It’s rare to hear an unreleased verse that matter these days, let alone from four different Hip-Hop legends. Richmond, Virginia-based DJ and producer Andrew Hypes happened to somehow mysteriously manage to get his hands on a few tracks from the Black Album-era when Jay and Timbo were making some of their best music.

The Timbaland-produced tracks feature verses from Jay-Z, Pusha T & Missy Elliott. Hypes decided to unleash the verses in true DJ fashion by coming up with a routine and releasing it via his Instagram feed. It instantly surprised his followers with many asking where he got the music from. The Jay-Z verse he teased at the end of his routine alone is in high demand.

This isn’t the first time Andrew Hypes has done something huge, he’s already gone viral twice in his career. Once by creating a beat by using a set of electric hair clippers as inspiration and at the end of 2017 he won a DJ competition at Virginia Commonwealth University by transitioning the Beach Boys “Surfing U.S.A.” into F.L.Y.’s “Swag Surfin’.” Being a huge Jay-Z fan and also close friend of the Hypes, I had to ask him a few questions about getting blessed with the exclusive verses from these Hip-Hop legends.

This is almost unbelievable to a Jay Z to know that you got two verse from one of the most celebrated artists ever has to be crazy, how did you come across this track?

I was doing a “Timbaland vs Neptunes” party in Miami with DJ Gotnow and I was spending a lot of time online researching and even checking YouTube for interviews or studio footage of Timbaland working and stumbled across the songs.

What made you want to do a DJ routine to release it?

I wanted to showcase what I do as a DJ with something unique. Coming across these records I felt like it made perfect sense. The last thing I wanted to do was just leak these songs in their entirety. I just wanted people to see the creativity I incorporated with songs that no one has ever heard.

Were you nervous about backlash? What has the response been?

Of course, but the reception and even getting Timbaland’s attention by him following and commenting was a big sigh of relief. I am proud to be where I am from and its because of guys like Tim, Pharrell, Chad, Bink, Nottz, Mad Skillz etc…

I noticed Shaquille O’Neal reposted your routine on his IG feed as well, how crazy is that?

Nuts….Still crazy to me that he is someone I have done music with and he supports me fully. I am grateful!

You also teased another verse from Hov. Will you release it and do you have exclusives in your stash that we need to know about?

Haha I guess we will find out.
