Richmond's Own OG Illa Releases Much Anticipated Album "Illegal"
One of the most robust and influential artists in Richmond, OG Illa has released his much anticipated album Illegal on Halloween. Weeks prior to the release of the project, he was interviewed by Lovelace Magazine and in September he dropped a surprise EP called Emotions. It’s an eleven track album that allows listeners to get a peek into OG’s hustle and what drives his ambition.
The introduction IBeOnIt is a solid introduction that talks about his ambition and what he’s doing to further that ambition. IBeOnIt is a solid introduction with the same flow throughout the duration of the track. Clientele is a calmer song compared to the introduction and allows a smoother pace into the project. When it comes to the production for Illegal, it looked like he aimed for a more cohesive project sound wise. With that being said, the only thing I would’ve preferred as it pertains to the sound of the project was to change the track order. If Kareem would’ve been track six or seven, it could’ve came out different sonically. Other than that, the pacing of the album is nice and follows each track pretty well.
Illegal does have several features from a familiar face The Uth, which has worked with OG several times in the past, a young face in Frank Eazay, and other artists like The Heroz and WhopDaSquire. The features in Illegal allows the respective artists to leave a solid impression on every feature for the listeners. You can stream the project below on Spotify.
